Rick was a graduate of North Carolina State University. He graduated with majors in Accounting and Business Management. Rick received his CPA certificate in 1977. Before relocating to New Bern in 1977, he practiced in Raleigh and Sanford.

Rick was a member of the AICPA and NCACPA's. Rick had participated in many of North Carolina Association of CPA's committees and was the past President of the Coastal Plains Chapter of CPA's. He also was a member of the Taxation and Financial Planning Division of the AICPA.

Christopher K. Williams, CPA

Chris was born in New Bern, North Carolina and graduated from New Bern High School in 1970. He attended East Carolina University and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Chris received his CPA certificate in 1977. He has practiced in New Bern since 1978, concentrating in the taxation of individuals, closely-held businesses, estates and trusts. Chris also maintains membership in the AICPA and NCACPA.  

Chris added comprehensive financial services as a resource to our client base in 2003, becoming licensed with the NASD and NC Department of Insurance.  Financial services are provided through CWS Financial Group, LLC.

Steven N. Scarborough, CPA

Steve was born, raised, and graduated from high school in Havelock, North Carolina. He went to East Carolina University for three years and then attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where in 1983 he graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration. In 1987 he became a Certified Public Accountant and has been a member of the AICPA and NCACPA since then. He is currently the partner in charge of the Jacksonville Office.

Steve joined the accounting firm of Mc Cotter, Carter, and Williams as a staff accountant in 1986 and in 1992 he became a full partner in the firm. His primary focus is to help businesses through a variety of accounting, auditing, tax and management advisory services.  He successfully completed the Certificate of Educational Achievement in Governmental Accounting and Auditing Program in 1992.  

Charles S. Smith, CPA

Charles was born in New Bern, North Carolina and graduated from New Bern High School in 1991.  He attended East Carolina University and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.  He joined the firm of Carter, Williams & Scarborough in 1997.  He earned his CPA license in 2002.  He has been a Quickbooks Certified ProAdvisor since 2001and assists small businesses with the installation, training and monitoring of the Quickbooks software.  He also focuses on taxation, auditing and advisory services.

W. Randall Gray, CPA

Randy is an Eastern North Carolina native, graduating from Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro , NC and then from East Carolina University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  Randy received his CPA certificate in 1990. He has practiced in New Bern since 1988, 13 of those years with a national CPA firm.  His concentration is in the taxation of individuals, closely-held businesses, estates and trusts.  His experience also includes non-profit and governmental accounting. Randy maintains memberships in the AICPA and NCACPA. 

Randy is also a very active member of the community.  He is a past president and current member of the New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club.  He is also very involved in the New Bern Area chamber of Commerce, serving on its board twice and is a past chairman of the finance and membership committees.
